When asked who they would vote for, 51.5 percent of respondents expressed their support for Gonzalez, who is uniting progressive forces ahead of the runoff election scheduled for April 13.

In contrast, only 46.5 percent of those surveyed said they would vote for Noboa, who is seeking re-election with the backing of the right-wing political party Accion Democratica Nacional (ADN).

The TresPuntoZero study interviewed 1,000 people and also assessed opinions on the Noboa administration. In this regard, 49.2 percent of respondents believe that his government has been “very bad.”

The text reads, “Luisa Gonzalez is the candidate of unity, diversity, interculturality and, above all, peace. If we want democracy, let’s go with Luisa. Noboa, never again!”

Regarding public perceptions of the political outcome of the first round of elections, 48.3 percent of those surveyed think that Luisa Gonzalez was the big winner of the elections, while 42.5 percent consider Noboa the biggest loser.

In fact, the Citizen Revolution presidential candidate claims that she surpassed Noboa by two percentage points and blamed the National Electoral Council (CNE) for not reflecting that figure in the official results. Gonzalez has also accused electoral authorities of acting irregularly by allowing President Noboa to campaign without taking a leave of absence, as required by Ecuadorian law.

On April 13, over 13.7 million Ecuadorians are set to elect a president between the two runoff candidates: Noboa and Gonzalez. The winner will take office in May and serve for the next four years.
